The port is part of the high forest whose main feature is the abundant biodiversity per square meter, one of the largest in the world in terms of endemic species of flora and wildlife. Monkey Island is located on the banks of the Misahualli River, just a step away from Central Park. It is called "Monkey Island" for being the habitat of the Machin monkey species, which have lived and reproduced for more than 20 years; for this reason the monkeys are the most sociable in the region, becoming an attraction for tourists who approach very easily and share the tranquility and peace that the place generates. Its extensive beach is very popular with tourists, ideal for swimming, water sports and river tourist transport.

Puerto Misahuallí and its surrounding indigenous communities are also bases for many volunteers working for reforestation projects, with community support in development initiatives in diverse, and connected areas such as, ecotourism and capacity building. The indigenous populations of Ecuador are some of the most politically organized in Latin America, and Tena houses two major confederations, Fonakin (Federación de Organizaciones de la Nacionalidad Kichwa de Napo) and Ashin (Asociación de Shamanes Indígenas de Napo); one of the major stand-offs during the 2001 indigenous uprising in Ecuador, took place here.

The community of Shiripuno, through the Kichwas Women's Association of Shiripuno - Misahuallí (Amukishmi), develops ecotourism activities linked to their customs, traditions, legends, folklore. They market with crafts, perform shamanic sessions on the sacred stone and tours through the botanical garden.

Attractions: Made by the women of the Amukishmi Association, the crafts are made of natural materials such as pita fibers, dozens of types of natural seeds and natural dye resins such as leaves, flowers, roots, latex, among others. Dance and music: The community offers Quichua dance and music shows during which you can observe and enjoy pleasant moments.
